Partner of the Month: Mike Hanley
We would like to thank Mike Hanley from the Utah Department of Workforce Services – Vocational Rehabilitation as the August Partner of the Month. Mike has been with Vocational Rehabilitation for 12 years and is currently working as a Choose to Work Specialist. Mike’s career has taken him to Hawaii and Alaska. He has worked with people with and without disabilities from the bush communities of Alaska and the outer Island of Hawaii to the rural communities of Salt Lake City, Utah and Anchorage, Alaska. He values the opportunity to assist the people he works with to find meaningful employment. His very interesting employment history has taught him the value of the Rural Online Initiative Program. He only wishes that he had access to the ROI program earlier in his career.
Mike attended and graduated from the February 2021 Master Remote Work Professional Certificate course so that he would know what he was referring his clients to. He has referred numerous clients to the program and invited many to local in-person informational meetings. He feels that with companies moving their employees to remote workers, the Rural Online Initiative Program should be required training.

Mike's favorite quote:

“Do or do not. There is no try” Yoda, in The Empire Strikes Back.

Remote Work Radio
In this episode of Remote Work Radio, our host Marta Nielsen interviews William Kremlin, a native of Vernal, Utah. William loves his life in the Uintah Basin, but had been laid off from his job and was worried he would have to leave his hometown to find work. He learned about USU Extension's Master Remote Work Professional certificate course from the state's Vocation Rehabilitation office and decided to pursue a remote job by taking the course and found a remote job. In the interview, they discuss his position at Concentrix and how remote work will positively affect his quality of life in the Uintah Basin.
